I painted these pumpkins in gingham check, which is not a thing that happens in a field. The brush dragged. The color skipped. In a few places the check doesn’t line up across the curve, and I left every bit of that in, because a pumpkin corrected within an inch of its life isn’t worth putting on a wall.

There’s a harvest moon in the big one, done in gold check so it belongs to the same argument. Stencil flowers in between. Stripes in rust, oxblood and olive to hold the whole thing down.
