Something’s starting to move.

Painted line · Painted in the studio in paint and crayon, then scanned and built into repeat. About the two lines →
Stirring started as a painting I made a few years ago and never stopped liking: a band of rust with small black trees across the top, and below it a pale scraped ground where painted drops hang on loose crayon threads. None of it is a real raindrop or a real tree. It’s paint that wanted to move.
So I took it apart. The drops, the crayon loops, the little trees and the ground itself all came off that painting and went back together in repeat. The scratches, the wobbly threads and the crayon skipping over the grain stayed in, because that’s where the movement lives.
Eight designs on two grounds: pale Chalk and deep Oxblood. Which way would you take it?

Flat squares don’t tell you how big a thing is. These do.
