How’s your season going? It’s already past Halloween and that seemed to blink by! The leaves are still holding on here and are really beautiful in some spots. That’s been inspiring the violet and gold palette I’ve been working in lately.
Creative Play and Exploration
I shared some of my abstract explorations with you and have been working with that idea for a while. It’s been an interesting experiment and I can see how it’s informed these newer paintings. Still, I’ve circled back to whimsical and mysterious magical realism which is my main expressive mode.
It’s good to explore and experiment and journey into new creative lands. I was able to bring back these odd little creatures – they just showed up one day! I’m looking forward to getting to know them.
Mixed Media – All the Stuff!
I love using tissue paper as a texture layer in some of my mixed media pieces and even better if it’s a printed version. Sadly, that’s hard to find – they’re usually for gift wrap and such and not so suitable for mixed media. So, I made my own!
I made a custom printed tissue paper with some vintage handwriting from my digital library. My sample order is on the way and I’ll let you know how it turns out. You can order your sheets here at Zazzle.
