Mixed media abstract figure in shades of ochre on a moody purple background

I’ve been working on a series of mixed media abstract figures lately, and I’m excited to share a glimpse into my studio today with this series: three mixed media figures exploring form and expression! As I’ve mentioned, I’ve been on a journey to infuse my work with more emotional depth. This series feels like another step in that direction.

All three mixed media abstract figures are variations and are of a female form seen from behind with the figures in warm hues of ochre, yellow, orange, and reds. That form contrasts with a textured backdrop of moody purples and greens where I was working towards creating a sense of mystery and intrigue. The painting’s texture comes from many layers of a variety of materials and techniques.

The painting at the top is the largest at 12×12 and the other two are 6×6 and all are mixed media on paper and are finished by mounting on slim-line cradled panels so they’re ready to hang with no framing needed.

I’m always interested in hearing your thoughts! What emotions or interpretations do these figures evoke in you?

Thanks for following along on this artistic journey. Stay tuned for more explorations of form and expression coming soon!
