It’s starting to feel a tiny bit end of season here – I can just see a hint of autumn in the way the sunlight slants and a few early yellow leaves twirling down. Autumn is my birth season and I’ve always felt like it’s the beginning of the year instead of January.

I’ve been working on two projects at once – which I don’t normally like to do – finishing the Following the Thread last items and starting a new fall project. Of course, I’d MUCH rather work on the fall project and just let the other go. But, I have a habit of abandoning projects – a more charitable way of saying it is that I’m good at letting go – and don’t want to let the residency wrap up fizzle out. It was a lot of work and I learned so much, it deserves the respect of a proper finish. Still…Fall is calling!

Following the Thread

I’ve decided to offer four limited time prints from the residency on the most delicious textured paper from FinerWorks, which I think is one of the best art printers around. I’ve had test prints made and am so happy with them! You can see those here in my shop – if you’re crushing on one, go ahead and get it because these are only going to be available until September 30.

Don’t forget you can have a completely free copy of the digital project exhibition folio here on the exhibition page. It’s a 25-page eBook that documents the residency and process. I’m working on some other artifacts and will have a special thing for you coming up soon!

Fall is Whispering My Name

Almost every year this time, I find myself painting or drawing pumpkins, moons and stars in some form. This year – same! I’m starting a new project to come out in October. It’s still early days but the inspiration phrases I’m working with include things like “raggedy moon in a torn sky” and “glimmering harvest” and others…

I’ve chosen colors and format and put the very first layers of paint down. This project takes me back to mixed media on paper but I’m hoping to leave some open-ended exploration points too. I’m considering exploring metal leaf in these for that glimmering feel.

Thanks again for being here with me and walking the creative path – I’m so glad you’re here!
